Getting started with practical EMC and EM Engineering – some useful resources - Updated for Mat 2021
I have put together a short list containing sources of practical information and guidance on EMI and EMC that I have found useful - sometimes very useful indeed! Many of these are free on-line resources.
My list also includes conferences, symposia, and professional societies on EMI and EMC that are well worth engaging with to help you keep up with the field (pun intended!).
It also includes a list of EMC test equipment suppliers, from the lowest-cost (e.g. a software defined radio configured as a spectrum analyser for a total cost under $100) to the highest-performance.
This information is certainly not exhaustive, but by sharing it, I hope to help you on your EMC journey by avoiding some of the unnecessary detours along the way.

Electromagnetic Engineering (EMgineering) is the basis for proven good design practices for signal integrity (SI), power integrity (PI), and the control of EMI emissions and immunity (EMC).
Our aim is to help people learn how to more quickly and cost-effectively design and manufacture electronic equipment (products, systems, installations, etc.) to meet functional (i.e. SI/PI) specifications and conform to EMC standards, directives and other requirements.
Such equipment should benefit from reduced warranty costs and financial risks, whilst improving uptime, competitiveness and profitability.
We also cover basic good electrical safety engineering; and the Risk Management of Electromagnetic Disturbances / EMI, whether for Functional Safety or other types of risk.
